　　约翰基应当顺从新西兰民意――压倒多数的国人已经通过民调、抗议、在公投发起书上签名等方式表达了对出售国有资产的强烈反对。

　　在这样一个要害议题上无视民意可谓傲慢之至，而这也表现出约翰基与新西兰民众完全脱节。

　　如果他真的相信新西兰人喜欢这个卖国产的主意，那么他是活在一个虚无缥缈的幻境里。民调的反对、以及在短短数周内就有10万人签名要求公投都证实了新西兰大众在出售国有资产问题上的强烈情绪。

　　已经有很多民众来找我，说虽然上次大选他们投票给了国家党，但他们强烈反对出售国有资产。这不是总理所称的可以单凭党派立场来划分的问题。新西兰人不论政治倾向如何，都对此议题反应强烈。

　　眼下，在最后一轮投票进入倒计时之际，约翰基仍有机会对这个议案喊停。之前，由于公众的激烈反弹，他曾收回班级扩大规模的政策，而在出售国有资产一事上，他也应当这么做。

　　这个立法不符合新西兰的最大利益，也不应当仅凭一票多数而通过――何况代表这一票的政治人物只得到全国1%的支持。（霍建强议员办公室供稿）

　　Last chance for National to listen to the people on asset sales

　　On the eve of the final vote on asset sales, Labour is calling on John Key to listen to the voice of the people and put a stop to the planned sell-off of our power companies and national airline.

　　“John Key must listen to New Zealanders who have expressed their overwhelming opposition to asset sales through polls, protests and by putting pen to paper to sign up to the citizens-initiated referendum.

　　“Ignoring public opinion on such a crucial issue is worse than arrogant and shows how out of touch John Key is with the rest of the country.

　　“He’s living in cloud cuckoo land if he truly believes that New Zealanders are warming to the idea. That’s not what the polls show. And the fact that 100,000 signatures have been gathered for the referendum in just a few weeks confirms the strength of feeling amongst the public.

　　“Many people have come up to me and say that although they voted for National, they are strongly opposed to asset sales. This is not an issue that falls simply along party lines as the Prime Minister claims. It is something that New Zealanders feel strongly about no matter what their political persuasion.

　　“John Key still has the ability to pull the plug even as we count down to the final vote. He backed down on increasing class sizes because of public outrage and he should do the same on asset sales. 

　　“This legislation is not in New Zealand’s best interests and is not something that should be passed by just one vote – belonging to a politician who has the support of less than 1% of the population,” said David Shearer.
