　　最新公布的就业数据只能令新西兰年青一代大为扫兴，他们就业的期望值越来越低。　　一次又一次，我们听到关于欧洲“失落的一代”的说法，而自从约翰基执政以来，15－24岁年龄层的失业人数已经增加到13000人，20－

　　一次又一次，我们听到关于欧洲“失落的一代”的说法，而自从约翰基执政以来，15－24岁年龄层的失业人数已经增加到13000人，20－29岁的年龄组甚至有45900人没有工作。

　　约翰基尽管一再保证说他的政策将在私营产业领域创造工作机会，可实际上是画饼充饥。而且与此同时他还在公共服务领域大肆裁减工作岗位。

　　新毕业生们如饥似渴地想要工作。

　　他们都受过高等教育。他们有技能、有天份，可就是找不到工作。

　　他们不是因为没有努力而失败。你去和几乎任何一个大学毕业生聊一聊，他们都会告诉你自己收到的拒绝信不止一打。

　　这些年青人是在为国家党政府无法解决失业问题的败绩埋单。他们正属于所有那些评论家们所说的如果眼下被拒斥在职场之外，就很可能永久性失业的那一群。对此，再多的福利改革也无济于事。

　　我们决不能眼睁睁地让我国的年青人这样受苦下去，对自己的国家和未来不抱希望。

　　我们需要的是切切实实、大力度地扭转这种趋势。

　　工党将把失业救济以辅助金的方式转拨给雇主，好让他们雇用有技能的年轻人。

　　我们将通过一个积极的区域发展计划在各地区创造就业，并力图对我国经济实施结构性变革，以打造高价值、高收入的就业机会。（霍建强议员办公室供稿）

　　Ready, willing, jobless…

　　New job numbers out today will be cold comfort to a generation of young New Zealanders whose employment prospects grow bleaker by the day, Labour’s Youth Affairs spokesperson Megan Woods says.

　　“Time and again we hear about Europe’s ‘Lost Generation”, yet  since John Key took office the number of unemployed 15-24 year olds has grown by almost 13,000 while in the 20-29 year age group there’s now a staggering 45,900 people not working. 

　　“Despite John Key’s assurances that his policies would create jobs in the private sector, they haven’t materialised. At the same time he has cut jobs across the public sector.

　　“New graduates are screaming out for work. 

　　“They are highly educated. They are skilled and talented people who simply cannot find work.

　　“It is not for want of trying. Talk to almost any university graduate and they’ll tell you about growing piles of rejection letters.

　　“These young people are paying the price of National's failure to address joblessness. They are the demographic that all the commentators say are likely to remain out of the workforce permanently if they are excluded now. And no amount of welfare reform will be able to fix that.

　　“We simply can’t continue to let our young people languish with no tangible hope of a secure future in their own country.

　　“What’s needed is a real commitment on a scale that will turn this trend around.

　　“Labour would make the dole available as a subsidy to employers to hire young people in the skilled trades.

　　“We are prepared to get stuck in and create jobs in the regions by having an active regional development programme, and we are committed to making the necessary structural change in the economy to create high-value, well-paid jobs,” said Megan Woods.
